Postgraduate Diploma in Economic Principles

[This programme is only available to continuing students who registered with effect from 1 June 2008 or earlier.]

Programme Description

This is a useful qualification, designed for those who have a first degree but do not have previous formal training in mathematics, statistics and economics. It provides a thorough understanding of the economic principles of market economies and the basic quantitative techniques economists use for analysing them. This Diploma is also an entry route to our MSc programmes that require previous training in subjects such as economics. Obtaining the Postgraduate Diploma in Economic Principles with high enough grades is a route for entering the MSc in Financial Management or the MSc in Financial Economics.

Careers

Former students with this qualification have the sound grounding in economics that is needed by high achieving staff in banks, fund management institutions, governments, public services, international organisations and NGOs.

Entry requirements

You should have a recognised first degree with good grades in any subject or a recognised professional qualification. It is not necessary for you to have studied economics or a quantitative subject before.

Programme length

A minimum of one calendar year; maximum registration of five years.
